From the first time I had access to the internet when I was younger, I realized how much I loved technology. I got into programming in junior high and over the last 15 years have done everything from building simple websites and games to complex web applications and more involved online games. I have spent time working for local web design companies and the last couple of years with a large technology company as a software tester. Whilst these experiences have helped to further develop my skills, I have always wanted to run my own web design business where I can truly test my creativity and build highly functional, responsive, and modern websites with superior code and security. In fact, this website is a great example of that, and I look forward to working with clients of all sizes to share my experience and deliver an exceptional product.
In 2007, I went to college for web development and in 2013 I also received my associate degree in Business Administration (Accounting), both from NSCC. Outside of work, I volunteer with the SPCA fostering cats, play online games with friends, and participate in the tri-annual "Ludum Dare" game jam where my small team of two or three work together to build a video game in 72 hours.
I have dreamt of owning my own business for as long as I can remember but it was always tomorrow, and then tomorrow never came. I had a busy career, a family and 100 other things that made it easier to maintain the status quo. I finally had enough with the 9-5 grind and took a leap of faith; that's how Citadel Design was born.
Not everyone would be thrilled to work with their brother when it comes to owning a business, but we are about as ying and yang as it gets so I think it's a truly complementary partnership.
I graduated from St Mary's University in Halifax, NS in 2009 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance). I had been working for a large multi national insurance company since 2008, and continued there until June 2017. I gained a load of experience in the various positions I held. I started in sales before I moved into management. From there I found myself in operations, responsible for key performance metrics within a Renewals function. The last three years I worked in data analytics which I really enjoyed, but the itch to work for myself never went away. I left the comfort and security of my insurance career to open Citadel Design with my brother, and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
Outside of work life, I love sports (go Jays!), am a car fanatic, travel enthusiast, and love spending time with my wife Lisa, 10 year old son Tyler, and our American Bulldog Storm.
